What is ITF Gradings?

ITF Taekwondo grading is the process by which students advance through the belt ranks, starting from white belt up to black belt and progressing through the Dan (degree) levels. This is done through practical exams that assess techniques, patterns (Tuls), and sometimes sparring. Each rank has specific training time requirements and technical criteria. Students are evaluated on factors such as technical accuracy, power, rhythm, and application, with outcomes ranging from passes to distinctions or the need for a re-test. Grading sessions are typically organised twice a year and cover patterns, theory, sparring, and techniques.
